PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing utensil, an ink retainer, a guide core and the like of which can be constituted of the same member even in a case a variety of ink colors are required; the basic compositions of solvents, resins and the like of ink are different and the value of ink physical property varies per color or ink composition. SOLUTION: This direct liquid type writing utensil is constitutionally designed in the way that not less than three pieces of rib for fixing an ink occlusion element are arranged in the longitudinal direction on the edge face of a tail end part of the ink retainer; the longitudinal length of the rib from the edge face of the tail end part of the ink retainer is not less than 5.0 mm; and the inscribed circle surrounded by the ribs has a diameter of 4.0 to 20.0 mm.
