PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water collecting agent the water collecting speed of which is improved and which adsorbs moisture effectively and restrains the generation and growth of a dark spot in an organic EL element, and to provide the organic EL element having this water collecting agent as a drying means. SOLUTION: The water collecting agent contains a compound shown by the formula (wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each hydrogen or any substituted group of≥1C alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, alkoxide, acyl and heterocyclic independently, or at least two of R1, R2 and R3 are the substituted groups selected from the≥1C alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, alkoxide, acyl and heterocyclic at least a part of the hydrogen atoms of each of which is substituted with a halogen element; a center metal M is a metal having 6 coordination number). The generation and growth of the dark spot are restrained and the service life of the organic EL element is improved by using this water collecting agent to the organic EL element.
