<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting switch suitable for a remote control system switchable from the first control to the second control without requiring an immobilizer key and a slot. <P>SOLUTION: The position of the engine starting switch 40 is switched to an engine start position P1 when an operated section 41 is pressed from a reference position P0 over a first stroke by a driver, or is switched to an emergency position P2 when the operated section 41 is pressed from the reference position P0 over a second stroke by the driver. When such engine starting switch 40 is used in the remote control system, switching of the position of the engine starting switch 40 to the emergency position P2 triggers switching from the normal control (first control) to the emergency control (second control).
