PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a select assist device of an automatic transmission capable of increasing the freedom degree of layout by reducing the size of a select lever while securing reliability by the mechanical connection of the select lever to a range position switching device and also providing select lever operation force characteristics meeting specified requirements. SOLUTION: This select assist device comprises a drift correction block 50 correcting the zero-point displacement of the DC component of a torque sensor 21 when the position of the select lever 2 is determined by position detection to be set at a range staying position.
