PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing system which is capable of reducing a processing time required for data compression/write processing and effectively using resources. SOLUTION: The data processing system is equipped with a memory controller 8 which transfers input data to a memory 14. A compression circuit 11 compresses data stored in the memory 14. The compressed data are stored in a memory 5. A processor 1 compares the amount of data which are not compressed with that of compressed data, selects the data smaller in volume than the other data, and sets up an operation for transferring the data to an HDD 15.
