POLYMERIZABLE COMPOUND, BLOCK POLYMER COMPOUND, ITS PRODUCTION METHOD, COMPOSITION COMPRISING BLOCK POLYMER COMPOUND, METHOD AND DEVICE FOR APPLYING LIQUID USING THE SAME COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block polymer compound capable of satisfactorily dispersing a functional material composed of a dye or a pigment to a solvent and exhibiting a good fixability in printing of an image; to provide its production method; and to provide an ink composition comprising the same.

SOLUTION: The block polymer comprises a segment having a carboxy group or a hydroxy group protected with a benzyl group at branched side chain ends of a repeating unit structure composed of a principal chain of a polyalkenyl ether group. The method for producing the block polymer comprising the segment having branched side chain ends converted to a carboxy group or a hydroxy group, is carried out by hydrogenating the block polymer compound by using a catalyst, so as to deprotect the branched side chain ends. The ink composition comprises the block polymer compound, a solvent or dispersion medium, and a color material.
