PURPOSE: An in-plane switching mode LCD device is provided to improve light leakage under the black state by further forming a discotic layer between an upper polarizer or a lower polarizer and an LCD panel. CONSTITUTION: An in-plane switching mode LCD device includes an LCD panel(60) having a first substrate(61) with pixel electrodes and common electrodes alternately formed, a second substrate(62) opposing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer(63) formed between the first and second substrates, first and second polarizers(70,80) respectively corresponding to outer sides of the first and second substrates, and a discotic layer(64) formed between the LCD panel and the first or second polarizer.
