PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane treatment apparatus and a membrane treatment method which can solve a scale deposition problem without stopping operation and stably carry out membrane treatment even if scale components such as magnesium hydrate are deposited while increasing the removal ratio of boron when a boron-containing liquid is subjected to membrane treatment at a high recovery rate. SOLUTION: In the membrane treatment method, an alkali is supplied to a stock solution, and the stock solution to which the alkali has been supplied is subjected as a charging liquid to reverse osmosis treatment by a reverse osmosis membrane module unit A. The pressure of the stock solution supplied to the reverse osmosis membrane module unit A and/or the flow rate of a permeate in the unit A are (is) measured during the operation, and the supply amount of the alkali is controlled based on the results in the measurement.
