PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste decomposition treatment method by which efficiency in the fermentation decomposition of organic waste can be increased, and also a treated matter excellent as compost can be obtained. SOLUTION: A hygroscopic material 5 is added to organic waste M in a storage tank 2, and these are stirred with a stirrer 3 to promote the fermentation decomposition of the organic waste W. Thereafter, using a hygroscopic material separation part 6 having a screen mesh 14, the hygroscopic material 5 is separated from the organic waste M by sieving, and the organic waste M is recovered.
