PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface cleaner for vegetables and fruits capable of obtaining the good field of view and preventing the scatter of vegetable waste or the like. SOLUTION: The hand-held surface cleaner 10 for fruits or vegetables has a handle 11; a cover 17 mounted to the handle; a motor 14 and a battery 12 enclosed within the handle; an output shaft 15 extending from the motor; and a utensil 20 mounted to the output shaft and surrounding a part of the output shaft. When the utensil 20 is applied to the surface of the fruit or vegetable to turn on a power source, the utensil is rotated, and the cover extends along the utensil and has light transmitting property.
