摘要 PURPOSE: A high definition optical disc and drive are provided to increase the recording density of a disk by eliminating unnecessary address data and to enhance the precision in detecting an address by using efficiently redundancy address data. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises an optical disc(10), an optical pickup(16), an RF(Radio Frequency) circuit(26), an address decoding circuit(28), a servo processor(30) and a system controller(32). The optical pickup(16) records or regenerates data alternately at grooves and lands spirally formed on the optical disc(10). The RF circuit(26) offers address signals, included in regenerated signals, to the address decoding circuit(28). The address decoding circuit(28) gets address data of the optical disc(10) by decoding the address signals, and offers the address data to the servo processor(30) and the system controller(32). The address data including an area address and a track address is embedded in the grooves and the lands as a wobble. The address data is embedded by being converted into grey codes and wobbling the grooves and the lands.
