Product mixer vat has upright mixer shaft with side-presented retractable scraper blade assembly

A mixer assembly has a container with a rotating upright mixer shaft that is in contact with ingredients. The assembly further has a side-mounted shaft scraper assembly (6) with a retractable scraper blade (7). Hydraulic or pneumatic retraction and extension of the scraper blade is subject to remote control. The scraper blade is made of e.g. PTFE or a carbon compound. The scraper blade lip is inclined at an angle to the shaft. The scraper blade assembly is lowered into the mixing container and advanced sideways to the shaft as required.
