The present invention refers to the procedure of preparation of amorphous atorvastatin calcium without intermediate isolation of crystalline or undefined mixture of crystalline and amorphous atorvastatin calcium. The formation of calcium salt of atorvastatin is taking place in a mixture of a non-hydroxylic organic solvent, cyclic hydrocarbon and water and the source of calcium ions can be water solutions of calcium acetate or calcium chloride.
