The method involves authorizing starting of a motor vehicle based on evaluated data. The data represents distance covered by an identifier and/or changing of orientation of the identifier between an instant (T0) and another instant (T1). The instant (T0) belongs to authentication for authorization of access of vehicle and the instant (T1) belongs to authentication for starting of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a portable identifier of a hands-free system.
