The device has an opening (18) in a nozzle (12) for a passage of an irrigation hose (16) through the nozzle. Drain holes (20) are positioned in the nozzle and spaced from the opening, for a passage of irrigated faecal matter from a rectum into a hollow interior of a tubular body (10). A discharge outlet (22) is placed near the hollow interior of the tubular body tube for discharge of irrigated faecal matter from the device. An independent claim is also included for a method for rectal irrigation by a rectal lavage device.
