The adjuster (10) has duct (12) and tube (14) that are helically movable with respect to each other. The duct and tube define a cable passage (11), and a retractable notch (16) allows the relative helical movement in one direction, and blocks the relative movement in another direction. A spring (18) stresses the tube with respect to the duct. An independent claim is also included for a window regulator having a cable adjuster.
