A refrigerator where a flammable refrigerant has no risk of catching fire and explosion even if it leaks and where a conventional door switch can be used for reduced production cost. The refrigerator using a flammable refrigerant for cooling has a door switch (4) and an electric power control portion (20). The door switch (4) turns an inside light (5) on when a door (21a) is in an open state and turns the light off when the door (21a) is in a closed state. The electric power control portion (20) regulates electric power flowing to the door switch (4) to prevent the flammable refrigerant from igniting.
