PURPOSE:To obtain the construction of electrodes in which spoiling with ink may be prevented at the start of printing by a method wherein a deflecting electrode is constructed with a specified construction and a detecting electrode is constituted so as to come to a specified position between a charging electrode and said deflecting electrode when the electrodes are retreated. CONSTITUTION:Before the beginning of the printing, respective electrodes are retreated once to retreated positions and the electrodes are prevented from being spoiled with ink. In this case, the deflecting electrode 5 is constituted so that an electroconductive thin film 24 is provided only on the necessary deflecting part on an insulating board 23 while the surface of the detecting electrode 4 is projected to a position in front of the surfaces of the charging electrode 3 and the electroconductive film 24. According to this method, a distance between the charging electrode 3 and the deflecting electrode 5 is increased as the shield effect of the detecting electrode 4 is increased, therefore, even if a high voltage is impressed under a condition that the electrodes are retreated, an electric field will not be generated substantially between the deflecting electrode 5 and the charging electrode 4. Accordingly, the deflecting electrode 5 or recording paper will never be spoiled with the ink. |
