A method and a system for transmitting a short message

The method involves transmitting a short message to a short message service center (SMSC) and a mobile switching center (MSC).The message is transmitted to a target number which depends on an A-subscriber and is a short number common to the A-subscriber. The short number is converted into a connection number and suitable for the communication network of a B-subscriber. An independent claim is also included for a system for transmitting short messages from an A-subscriber to a B-subscriber.
