A liquid filter has a housing with a first fixed perforated disc and a second perforated disc which moves back and forth by a hand wheel and spindle. The discs are separated by rubber granules that may be compressed as required by the moving plate. The granules may be compressed to the point at which fluid can no longer pass through the filter.
