PURPOSE: An automatic response service method in a mobile terminal is provided to announce a receipt rejection state as a moving picture through an automatic audio/video response service by using the multimedia function of a mobile terminal so that a caller can understand the receipt rejection state aurally and visually. CONSTITUTION: The user of a mobile terminal selects an automatic response message for a receipt rejection state or a power-off state and sets his/her mobile terminal as an automatic response state. If a call is received to the mobile terminal, the control part of the mobile terminal judges whether the power of the mobile terminal is on. If the power of the mobile terminal is off, the control part transmits an audio/video message, stored in a mobile service provider server, to the caller's terminal. However, in case that the power of the mobile terminal is on, the control part judges whether the mobile terminal is in an automatic response setup state. If the mobile terminal is in the automatic response setup state, the control part announces the receipt rejection state through an automatic audio/video response message.
