A cam follower, comprising a shaft member (1) cantilevered at one end part thereof and a sliding bearing (2) fitted to the other end part outer periphery of the shaft member (1). The sliding bearing (2) further comprises a cylindrical base metal (2a) formed of a ferritic sintered metallic material containing Fe of 90 wt.% or higher and a sliding layer (2b) formed on the base metal (2a) starting at the inner peripheral surface (2a1) to both end faces (2a2) of the base metal (2a). The sliding layer (2b) is formed of a sliding material composition obtained by mixing a lubricant such as silicone oil and a spherical porous silica impregnated with the lubricant with a base material such as a polyethylene resin.
