PROTON CONDUCTING MEMBRANE, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND FUEL CELL USING THE SAME

A proton conductive film with high dimensional stability is disclosed which is excellent in heat resistance and proton conductivity at high temperatures, thereby solving problems in conventional solid polymer fuel cells. Also disclosed are a method for producing such a proton conductive film and a fue l cell using such a proton conductive film. The proton conductive film compris es particles (1) having a metal-oxygen crosslinked structure, and an acid radic al such as sulfonic acid group is introduced into the surfaces of the particles (1). The particles (1) collectively constitute a contiguous body. A gap (2) between the particles (1) continues from the major surface of the proton conductive layer to the opposite surface thereof, thereby forming a proton- conducting path.
