PURPOSE: A headrest is provided to minimize shock by moving the headrest closely to heads of passengers by rotating rearward an inertia weight of an operating unit and moving forward the headrest by elastic force of a spring. CONSTITUTION: A headrest for a vehicle is composed of vertical frames(10) for fixing the headrest to a seat; a horizontal frame(13) joined on the upper part of the vertical frame; first and second links(15,16) fastened rotatively to a button of the horizontal frame and a side cover(12) of the headrest in parallel to each other to move the headrest in parallel; a spring(14) connected to the headrest and the horizontal frame; and an operating unit(2) disposed on the upper part of the horizontal frame to move back and fix or move forward the headrest by lock or release.
