PURPOSE:To make the easy adjustment of a carriage, a recording head or the like possible, by a method wherein a cap is opened and a carriage is moved to a specific position regardless of the presence of recording medium through a specific key operation. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 5 is loaded on a moving carriage 4. The carriage 4 is connected to a carriage motor 10 via a transmission means 11 such as a belt or the like and reciprocally driven in the arrow A direction by operating the carriage motor. A cap 7 is connected to a cap motor 12 via a gear 13 and driven forward or backward in the arrow C direction by operating the cap motor. When a specific key 15 is turned on, the cap 7 is driven backward (left open) by operating the cap motor 12 and successively the carriage 4 is operated to be moved to a fixed position by operating the carriage motor 10 by a fixed quantity. Thereby, the maintenance and inspection of the head, the carriage, etc. can be easily executed. |
