The device has an essentially annular or pot-shaped joint housing (2) in whose interior a bearing shell (3) can be arranged in which the ball of a ball journal can be movably accommodated, whereby the internal contour (4) of the joint housing and the outer contour of the bearing shell are essentially of conical frustum shape. The bearing shell can be essentially freely positioned in the ball joint housing in the journal axial direction.
