PURPOSE:To read an unfixed-form original and also read a fixed-form original at high speed by arranging a rotary original platen which scans an original in the fixed shape at the high speed on an image forming device equipped with an original read part and an original placing table. CONSTITUTION:When a pressing plate mode is selected with an original platen selection key, an original M placed on an original tray 32 is conveyed by a paper feed roller 33 and separated and conveyed by a separation belt 35 and a conveyor belt 36. Then the original M is conveyed to between a platen 5 and a belt 36 and set on the platen 5 at an original reference position. When a roller mode is selected so as to make a high-speed scan on many originals M in the fixed shape, the originals M mounted on the tray 32 are conveyed temporarily to between the platen 5 and belt 36 by the roller 33 and belts 35 and 36. Further, the belt 36 rotates to convey them to a conveying path 47 and the originals are passed through an automatic original conveying device 31 and sucked to an original platen roller 55. Thus, the read of the unfixed-form original and the high-speed read of the fixed-form originals are both attained.
