PURPOSE:To obtain a herbicidal composition exhibiting excellent effect in the foliar application in growing season, capable of remarkably reducing the rate of application, applicable after investigating the extent and growing state of weeds and useful for the control of weeds in Japanese lawn, by mixing two specific kinds of compounds as active herbicidal components. CONSTITUTION:The objective herbicidal composition contains (A) a compound of formula I (X is I or Cl; R is H, Na or octanoyl) which is a foliar treating agent for controlling broad-leaved annual weeds and is being used for the treatment of gramineous crops and lawn, etc., and (B) the compound of formula II which is known herbicide being used in small amount in a non-crop land and perennial crop land. The rates of application of the compounds of formula I and formula II are 40-80g/10a and 100-250g/10a, respectively and it is necessary to apply the compounds in such a manner as to be well attached to the leaves and stalks of weeds. The amount is rather low at the initial stage of growth and rather high at the vigorous growing stage. The application is preferably carried out by mixing with a carrier or adjuvant to form wettable powder or emulsifiable concentrate, etc., and diluting with water. |
