PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform printing at the highest possible speed while minimizing an increase in the temperature of a fixing unit.

SOLUTION: The device includes a temperature detection means for the fixing unit; a transmission means for transmitting the temperature information to a host computer that is a host device; a printing control means for controlling the speed of printing on the host computer; and a temperature estimation means for estimating a change in the temperature of the fixing unit from the controlled speed of printing.
