PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which, with respect to a cleaning device for a photoreceptor with a cleaning blade which comes into contact with the photoreceptor, making a toner have a small particle diameter and cleaning of a polymerized toner are achieved by a lubricant applying mechanism for simplification and miniaturization of the device. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is characterised in that a lubricant applying means is disposed on the downstream side of a cleaning means and between the cleaning means and a leveling means, the leveling means is disposed next to the lubricant applying means on the downstream side and on the upstream side of a charging means, and a swingable platelike brush is adopted as the leveling means.
