PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension for an automobile with superior riding comfort which sufficiently performs a restraining performance against shocks and vibrations in a forward and backward direction. SOLUTION: This suspension for an automobile has a forward and backward moving suspension 1 supporting an axle 50 of a wheel 52 and restraining vibrations in a forward and backward direction against the wheel. The forward and backward moving suspension comprises a holding part holding the wheel movably forward and backward against the vehicle body, and a damping part generating a resisting force against the forward and backward movement of the wheel.
