The invention relates to a closing device having a spring clip 5 which is produced from plastic and is articulated, via mounting devices 12, 13, on bearing blocks 10, 11 which can be fastened, by means of screws, on the closure element 2 and the basic element 1, respectively. Despite the small amount of space, the spring clip 5 permits large spring excursions and thus sufficiently large stressing forces in order to hold securely, e.g. a flap of a piece of furniture, in the opened, upright position, on the one hand, but also in the closure position, on the other hand. A simple construction and a cost-effectively producible design are achieved, which, moreover, further permits adaptation to the required stressing force without a large degree of intervention. <IMAGE>
