<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an oxidant electrode is contaminated again by metallic ions and ammonia generated as reaction products when a reducing agent containing metallic atom and nitrogen atom to reduce an oxide film is used against lowering of reaction efficiency caused by the oxide film on a catalyst of the oxidant electrode generated by a long-time operation of a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: During the operation of the fuel cell, the reducing agent which is composed of a plurality of atoms selected from a group of a carbon atom, a hydrogen atom and an oxygen atom and has an oxidant reducing potential less than 0.98 V against a standard electrode potential is applied to the oxidant electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
