PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner that can prevent image quality from being deteriorated caused by heat, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical scanner 6 is composed of a polygon mirror 62 for deviating and scanning an optical beam generated by a light source, optical elements including fθlenses 63, 64, and an optical housing 50 partitioned off with a base plate into two upper and lower chambers, with the polygon mirror 62 arranged in the upper chamber, and with the fθlenses 63, 64 arranged in the lower chamber.
