PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article capable of further preventing lateral leakage of body fluid. SOLUTION: A paper diaper 1 is provided with an article body (for example, a paper diaper body 10 and the like) having a liquid permeable surface sheet 10a, a liquid impermeable back sheet 10b and an absorbent body 12 interposed between both the sheets to absorb body fluid, and a pair of right and left gather sheets 13 are provided on the surface sheet 10a at both ends of the width direction of a part 17 inside legs, which is provided between a stomach side part 15 and a back side part 16 of the article body, over from the stomach side part 15 to the back side part 16. A pair of right and left projection parts 14 formed by respective projections of parts of the surface sheet 10a are provided between the two gather sheets 13.
