IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of an image quality due to the replacement of parts regardless of management in the production of a replaceable part and to reduce the production cost of the replaceable part.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 is provided with an information storing means to store the characteristic information of an intermediate belt 40 on the intermediate transfer belt 40 which is the replaceable part, and an information reading means 60 to read the characteristic information of the intermediate transfer belt 40 by radio communication is provided on the side of the main body A of the image forming apparatus 100. In the case of replacing the intermediate transfer belt 40, the characteristic information of the intermediate transfer belt 40 newly attached is read by the information reading means 60. A main body controlling part 30 controls image forming operation based on the characteristic information of the intermediate transfer belt 40 obtained by the information reading means 60 at an image forming time. Thus, a controlling data is automatically updated after replacing the replaceable part, so that the image of a high quality is obtained even in the case that the characteristic of the replaceable part is different.
