PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attachment and detachment unit capable of clearly indicating a faulty storage medium in such a manner that the faulty storage medium can be surely specified at the time of an operation to take out the faulty storage medium regardless of whether the attachment and detachment unit is within an electronic equipment body device or outside the device and without providing the attachment and detachment unit with a driving source, and without depending on a display means, such as a CRT. SOLUTION: When the detection of the faulty storage medium 4 is performed by the electronic equipment body device, an actuator present at a position corresponding to the faulty storage medium 4 is selectively driven and a locking member 14 constituting a mechanism to lock/unlock the faulty storage medium 4 is detached from the groove of the storage medium 4, and the storage medium 4 is unlocked. When the attachment and detachment unit 1 is taken out of the electronic equipment body device in this state and a cover 2 is opened, the locking of the displacement of the faulty storage medium 4 in its taking out direction is fully eliminated and only the faulty storage medium 4 is pushed out by a compression spring in the taking out direction.
