PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily perform positioning of an optical film to a light guide plate and to make it possible to visually inspect the existence, deviation and the like of the optical film even after assembling. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display wherein a backlight 10 comprising a liquid crystal panel P and the optical film 11 is incorporated in a holder 20 provided with a panel housing part 23 having a panel placing surface 26 whose surroundings are enclosed by a side frame 22 and a backlight housing part 24 having an aperture part 25 for emitting light opened at a part of the panel placing surface, film positioning grooves 30 comprising lateral grooves and longitudinal grooves extending from the inner edge of the aperture part 25 for emitting light via the inner surfaces of the panel placing surface 26 and the side frame 22 to the upper end of the side frame and having a prescribed depth are serially formed at the panel housing part 23 and positioning protrusion pieces 111 engaged with the inner parts of the lateral grooves and having the length extended to the inner parts of the longitudinal grooves are serially provided integrally with the optical film 11.
