PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet transporting device having a pair of transport rollers arranged asymmetrically with respect to the center of the sheet width and capable of precluding a skew in transportation. SOLUTION: The sheet transporting device is equipped with a transport guide means to guide a sheet upon inverting the sheet transporting direction, a first transporting means installed upstream of the transport guide means about the transporting direction and having at least two rollers on a shaft extending parallel with the sheet surface and at a right angle to the transporting direction, a second transporting means installed downstream of the transporting means about the transporting direction and having at least two rollers on a shaft extending parallel with the sheet surface and at a right angle to the transporting direction, and a flexible guide installed upstream of the second transporting means about the transporting direction, having a free end in a position near the rollers of the second transporting means, where the upstream at the other end about the transporting direction is fixed to the position where the device is fixed, and capable of guiding in transportation a part of the sheet leading edge to the rollers of the second transporting means without using the transport guide means.
