The continuous mesophase pitch production involves reaction of oil and coal derivatives of 60-100 per cent mesophase concentration. The mesophase is transferred to the cooler zone spontaneously, from the hotter zone receiving raw material, to maintain the mass balance in the reactor. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for implementing the above process, which comprises a twin-temperature reactor for pyrolysis of the mesophase organic precursor and sedimentation yielding the pitch.
