PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weft-holding device which can hold a weft with a suitable holding force corresponding to changed weaving conditions, even when the weaving conditions are changed during a weaving operation. SOLUTION: This weft-holding device of the fluid jet type loom is characterized by having an actuator (13) for operating a pair of holding pieces (12) or elastic members (35) and a driving controller (14) for the actuator (13), wherein the driving controller (14) outputs a driving signal to the actuator (13) to give a contact force corresponding to the changed weaving conditions between contact members (22) on the basis of inputted information, when the information related to the changed weaving conditions during the weaving operation is inputted.
