<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a light shielding object such as a work to path through a light curtain while ensuring safety, by allowing compatibility between a safety function and a muting function in a multi-optical-axis photoelectric safety device. <P>SOLUTION: A safety light curtain has an arrangement wherein light projectors/receivers 2, 3 are connected in series, respectively. In the arrangement, the muting function can be set at individual optical axes.
