PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of detecting a present location of a mobile communication terminal connected to a public switched telephone network via a prescribed base station with high accuracy at a low cost. SOLUTION: The mobile communication terminal selects three base stations 12-1, 12-2 and 12-3 among a plurality of base stations from which the mobile communication terminal can receive radio waves, acquires the positional information and electric field strength information of each of the base stations 12-1, 12-2 and 12-3, determines a triangle whose apexes are equal to the three base stations 12-1, 12-2 and 12-3, obtains a center of gravity G, and draws vectors B<SB>1</SB>, B<SB>2</SB>and B<SB>3</SB>from the center of gravity G toward each of the apexes 2-1, 12-2 and 12-3. Then the terminal composes vectors and determines a direction and a position represented by a composite vector B<SB>O</SB>for a present position O of the mobile communication terminal.
