PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an information processor with identical configuration to handle memories as standard equipment having a plurality of memory sizes. SOLUTION: An address space 150 corresponding to a maximum size N of an SDRAM 110 capable of being mounted as the standard equipment is mapped to an SDRAM controller 103 of the processor. If the memory size of the SDRAM 110 mounted as the standard equipment has a size M smaller than that of the size N, not only a sub space 151 but also a sub space 152 are overlapped and correspond to the memory space on the SDRAM 110. By utilizing this feature, test data is written by specifying an address 161 in the sub space 151 and the data is read out from an address 171 in the sub space 152 overlapped with the address 161. If both data coincide each other, it is determined that the size of the SDRAM 110 is M, and if do not coincide, it is determined that the size is not M. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
