PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front device for a work machine, which is excellent in assembling efficiency and transportability, and to provide the work machine. SOLUTION: The front device has a boom 100 consisting of a base boom 101 and an upper boom 150. The base boom has a cylinder mounting section 104 having mounted thereon a boom operating hydraulic cylinder 7 which is arranged between a boss 103 serving as a mounting section onto a rotary body 2, and the rotary body 2. The upper arm is detachably mounted on the tip of the base boom 101, and has a first arm mounting section 153 having a first arm 200 rotatably mounted thereon, and a cylinder mounting section 154 serving as a mounting section of a first arm driving hydraulic cylinder 8 arranged between the first arm 200 and the cylinder mounting section 154. In transportation, the base boom 101 and the upper boom 150 are separable form each other without mounting/dismounting work of the hydraulic cylinders, to thereby improve the assembling efficiency and transportability thereof.
