PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound hydrogen storage alloy in which a hydrogen storage content per unit weight is high at a relatively low temperature and, pulverization can be prevented, and which combines lightness in weight and miniaturization, to provide a hydrogen storage tank for a fuel battery, to provide a multilayer structure, and to provide a method of producing a compound hydrogen storage alloy. SOLUTION: The three pieces of an Mg alloy sheet 5, a Ti alloy sheet 7 and an Ni alloy sheet 9 are piled up, and are wound round an Mn alloy stem 3 in the piled state to compose an Mg alloy/Ti alloy/Ni alloy multilayer structure 1. The multilayer structure 1 is subjected to wire drawing treatment or rolling treatment, is made into fine structure so that the thickness of each sheet reaches a submicron level or lower, and is thereafter subjected to a heat treatment at 500 to 650°C.
