PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an image display device preventing drop in gas adsorbing capacity of a getter material and holding high display performance for a long time, and to provide an apparatus of manufacture and an image display device. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the image display device contains a getter process forming a getter film on a display surface of a front substrate 11, and a sealing process constituting an envelope by sealing peripheral parts of the front substrate formed with the getter film and a rear substrate, the getter process is conducted in such a state that the temperature of the display surface is controlled at 200°C or less, and after the getter process, the temperature of the display surface is kept at 200°C or less.
