PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial-ply tire capable of enhancing the cornering performance while the high-speed straight running stability is secured. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial-ply tire is structured so that a band layer 7 consisting of a band ply 7A formed by winding a band cord spirally is provided on the outside of a carcass 6. The band ply 7A includes a topping rubber consisting of a short fiber containing rubber G in such an arrangement that short fibers f are oriented approximately perpendicularly to the tire circumferential direction and approximately parallel with the tread surface 2S.
