<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce an acrylic fiber having excellent feeling by drying a wet yarn subjected to drawing operation in a high draw ratio in a drying process while preventing end breakages, contact bonding of fibers each other and fusion in a water washing bath or in a steam atmosphere to improve productivity in the production of the acrylic fiber. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the acrylic fiber comprises predrying a wet yarn after wet spinning by hot air and drying the yarn by contact heat transfer of a heating rotating roller.
