PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for effectively preventing the generation of hydrogen sulfide, e.g., from waste water based on microorganisms, e.g., in a waste water treatment process for a sewer line and a sewage treatment plant. SOLUTION: In this method for preventing the generation of hydrogen sulfide, a microorganism reproduced in an anaerobic condition more flourishingly than the case of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans, e.g. a microorganism whose specific reproduction viscosity is at least 0.8 (OD<SB>660</SB>) per hour in an anaerobic condition or a microorganism whose specific reproduction viscosity is at least three times that of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans is selected from the natural world, and the culture of the microorganism is charged, e.g., to sludge generating hydrogen sulfide, and the microorganism is grown.
